Key West!

 The rain went through early and the wind subsided so what better to do than another jog on the Seven Mile Bridge! The lack of wind made jogging easier but it made us easy prey for the mosquitoes which were ravenous! They seemed to like Debbie the best since her blood type makes her a universal donor. I jog so slowly they probably thought I was diseased or something so they mostly avoided me.



By 8:30 am we were en route to Key West! The water was still stirred up but beautiful. The Navy launched several jets to welcome us. The sound was deafening.

By 1:30 we were secure in our slip and enjoying a free welcome beer from the marina… well, free with every purchase of a month’s stay! 

After a little quality time with the cats in the fly bridge, we went to Hogfish Grill for dinner, followed by a Neon Palms beer at the Cayo Hueso brewery.

When it was time to call it a night, Debbie mentioned that the toilet was flushing sluggishly. There is nothing that inspires diarrhea in me faster than the threat of having no facilities. Luckily we have another head but that is for guests and we’re not allowed to use it. So we used the marina facilities and will explore the toilet remedy tomorrow.

Here We Go!

 I’m not sure why our vacations always begin before the sun is up. Certainly they have vacations that start later. We slept on the boat last night… between making mental lists of what we needed to get from the house in the morning that we forgot to pack. We’re lucky the boat still floats after cases of beer and cat food.  We passed a lot of friends’ houses and no one waved. An hour and a half later, Rob met us in his boat and handed off fresh salsa and chips before he boated off to work on a dock. It was a smooth ride until about two hours from our destination. We each took turns at the helm and Debbie guilted me into using the arm weights and workout mat I thought we had as props. I managed to stuff the bow into a boat wake and water poured through the open windows into the helm area. Debbie had to dry it up during her time off. Day Three

 Debbie was up before the alarm- VACATION ALARM- and we were jogging by 6:15. There were amazing sheepshead and snook off the dock. By 7:30 we were on the way to West Palm. The first several hours were harmless enough… until the asshole boaters awoke and it was every man for her self. We arrived around 2:00 and Ubered to Civil Society brewing. We returned with a case of beer and proceeded to torture a microwave lasagna to death. Crunchy! Tomorrow we plan head to Ft. Liquordale. Lots of bridges and slow zones.   I know many of you are simply awaiting the moment Debbie heads to the ER. So far, so good! But the night is young!

Life’s Full of Little Trade Offs

 So today we got to jog in Eau Gallie before departing. But by 8 AM, we were in the ICW powering south. Truly an unremarkable day which is a good thing!  We arrived at the Ft. Pierce City Marina at 2:00 and fueled up. By 3:00 we were headed to the brewery, a block away. Unfortunately, it opens at 4:00 so we had to wait. But the hazy beer was worth it and, after two beers, we left to visit our favorite restaurant for onion straws. Then we discovered those were discontinued! So we retreated to the boat for a delicious dinner of steak nachos and fresh salsa courtesy of Rob. Afterward, the cats enjoyed stalking pigeons from the flybridge.  So it comes as no surprise that images will not load on the blog tonight. Screw it. I’m done. Check back tomorrow!
